When everything seems so senseless…

This is the story of the boy-with-no-name. The boy-with-no-name had no name, because no one bothered to give him one.
When the boy-with-no-name was little, his mother and father left him alone outside a big house with big windows.

Every night, the family in the big house with big windows would gather in the den– a mother, a father, and a boy-with-a-name.

Even though the family sat together in the same sofa, in the same room, in the same big house with big windows, they do not talk to each other. They just sat there, each minding their own business. The mother did her knitting, the father read his papers, and the boy, the boy-with-a-name, just sat there, surrounded by his mountain of toys.

And every night, regardless spring, summer, autumn or winter, the boy-with-no-name looked at the family in the big house through the big windows, thinking, what it is like to have a mother, a father and a mountain of toys.

One Christmas, the boy-with-a-name got a teddy bear, yet another in addition to his mountain of toys.
And like all of the boy-with-name’s toys, this teddy bear remained unloved as it lies lifeless on top of the boy-with-name’s mountain of toys.

But the boy-with-no-name loved that teddy bear. He even gave it a name, D, because that was the last letter he learned before his mother and father left him.

And every night for a very long time, the boy-with-no-name looked at D. And when he dreamed, he dreamt of D, falling asleep with D in his arms, and it was always warm.

Another Christmas, the boy-with-a-name threw away his mountains of toys, including the teddy bear he got one Christmas. The teddy bear lies on top of another mountain, but this time, it is a mountain of trash.

The boy-with-no-name picked the teddy bear he called D from the mountain of trash, and hugged D, and gave D the love it never received from the boy-with-a-name.

The boy-with-no-name was surprised for even though he fallen asleep with D in his arms, as he had in
his dreams, it was not warm. And when he looked at D, D only stared back, lifeless it seems.

And D never hugged him back.

Because Teddy Bears will never hug you back.

And the boy-with-no-name was still alone.

And every night, regardless spring, summer, autumn or winter, the boy-with-no-name looked at the family in the big house through the big windows, thinking, what it is like to have a mother and a father, but not a mountain of toys.

The boy-with-no-name finally realized why the boy-with-a-name always just sat there on the sofa and not playing with his mountain of toys, it is because even if he loved his mountain of toys, they would never love him back.

The boy-with-no-name looked at the boy-with-a-name and thought, maybe his mountain of toys does not bring him happiness, but maybe a friend could. A human friend and not just a lifeless teddy bear.

And it would not only make the boy-with-name happy, but it would make him happy too.
With that thought in mind, the boy-with-no-name run up to the door of the boy-with-a-name’s big house with big windows, and knocked.

“Would the little boy like to come out and play?” the boy-with-no-name asked the maid, who opened the door of the boy-with-a-name’s big house with big windows.

The maid asked the boy-with-no-name to wait, as she went to get the boy-with-a-name.
After a few seconds and minutes that seem like hours and days, the boy-with-a-name came out and looked at the boy-with-no-name, and then asked cautiously, “You want to play with me?”

The boy-with-no-name nodded without any hesitation.

And the boy-with-a-name smiled.

And the two little boys run off to play.

Every day for a very very very very very long time, the two little boys played with each other, with smiles on their faces.

And at the end of the every day, they hugged, because human friends, unlike teddy bears, will hug you back.

This is the story of the little girl who was afraid of the “Nothing” in her closet.
Every night, before the little girl went to bed, she always made sure that the closet door is closed.
Whenever her sisters would open the closet door in the middle of the night, she would always get out of bed just to close it again.
The little girl is not afraid of the monsters that might come out of the closet. Because she
did not believe in monsters. Instead, she is afraid of the “Nothing” in her closet.

She does not know what the “Nothing” is. Or if it has shape or color. Or if it is big or small.
You see, that’s the thing, she knows nothing about the “Nothing” in her closet. And that is why she is afraid of it.
